It is with a heavy heart that Cabras Marine Corporation (CMC) must announce the passing of Fernando “Nanding” Magbuhat, a pipefitter who had been employed at CMC for over 5 years. Fernando passed away on April 3rd, 2021 at the age of 76 years old. Originally from the Philippines, Fernando had established his life on Guam leaving his family of 6 children and 9 grandchildren. Upon joining the Company, Fernando immediately brought a positive atmosphere to the workplace. Fernando’s coworkers and manager explain how he was hardworking, easy to work with, and friendly to everyone. Simply put, he was a happy person. He would always strive to perform well and achieve the tasks he was assigned to; many times he would volunteer for difficult tasks such as descending deep into a vessel to work in confined spaces. Fernando’s positive energy exemplified when he would train CMC’s apprentices in his trade. He would be energetic and excited to share his knowledge of repair & maintenance work to the future of CMC. CMC has understood the dynamic of our aging workforce and has since proactively implemented Apprenticeship Programs to prepare and invest in the future.
CMC is fortunate to have welcomed Fernando to our Team and learn the essential nature of optimism and a positive work environment through him. CMC’s condolences go out to Fernando’s family and we offer our support throughout this tough time. Fernando’s positive energy and hardworking mentality will certainly be missed but not forgotten among the CMC Team.
