Safety and Quality

Safety of people, equipment, and the environment are cornerstones of CMC’s operation and is monitored and maintained to the highest level. Our extensive insurance coverage assures the safety of all assets, personnel, and the environment. Our employee’s safety on and off our marine vessels and all those whom we perform business ventures with is a top priority. We ensure safety at sea and avoidance of damage to the environment, in particular to the marine environment. We strive to continuously improve safety-management skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships, including preparing for emergencies related both to safety and environmental protection. By properly training our personnel under experienced leaders, we form a sense of familiarity when our personnel are operating vessels and equipment. Our continuous preventative maintenance schedule is what keeps are vessels in top shape and available to operate 24/7. Our PACDIM facility is fully secured and a Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC) program is required to prevent unauthorized entries. Whenever there is ongoing operation at PACDIM, our Safety Team is onsite to monitor operations to ensure we are in accordance with up to date safety rules and regulations.

We are ISO 9001-2015 (Quality Management System) certified. Our Safety Management System maintains the safety of vessel operations in accordance with our ISM Classification Societies: RINA, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Bureau Veritas (BV).

Being engaged in afloat ship repair and maintenance, harbor docking and undocking tug assist, ocean and coastal towage, oil spill response, and crewboat services, we firmly believe that the future of our company relies on our commitment to quality services. As we develop these capabilities, the volume of vessels from its current customer base and the type of work performed on these vessels will continue to develop. Since entering the ship repair and maintenance market on Guam. We have claimed federal market share from these competitors and become the leading provider to the U.S. government. This is due to the high quality and efficiency of our services and our strong safety and strict compliance culture.

Our Island

We support our local island community to the best of our abilities. We invest heavily in the future of the business on Guam. In partnership with the Guam Community College, we successfully launched four Ship Repair Transportation Bootcamps in 2019 where candidates completed a 12-week program of training in skills including welding, preservation and plumbing (pipefitting). Additional courses included Industrial Safety, OSHA, Work Ethics, and 1st Aid & CPR. At the end of the bootcamp, graduates were offered a full-time position as apprentices in our workforce. As of today, we have successfully graduated 78 dedicated apprentices. All graduates successfully adopted our 7 A’s of Work Ethic: Attitude, Attendance, Appearance, Ambition, Acceptance, Appreciation, and Accountability.
