Cabras Marine Corporation (CMC) successfully repaired the F/V SEA TRADER , a 1300 Ton US Flag Fishing vessel, from March 11 to March 31,2013. F/V SEA TRADER was damaged during operations within the FSM. The owner, Sea Trader Fisheries LLC, operating out of Kaohsiung, Taiwan contracted CMC’s Shipyard, PACDIM to perform emergency repairs. PACDIM is one of the closest shipyards near FSM fishing grounds. F/V SEA TRADER was docked on our 1000 Ton dry-dock- the AFDL21 on March 13, 2013. The Fishing Vessel was repaired within a two (2) week period. Our facility’s location allows F/V SEA TRADER to return to her fishing activities much sooner than if repaired in New Zealand, Philippines or Taiwan. Sea Trader Fisheries LLC normally uses shipyards in New Zealand, Philippines or Taiwan for emergency repairs and dry dock purposes.
CMC is promoting more use of its facility for these type of repairs in support of the Fishing Fleets based in the RMI and the FSM. Our close location near the FSM and RMI Fishing grounds saves Fishing Fleets a significant amount of mobilization and demobilization costs for repair and dry-docking purposes and enables the Fishing vessels to remain very close to its fishing grounds.
